ADVICE ABOUT STUDENT FINANCE

Applying to Student Finance for a loan

Student Finance website

If you are on a fee-funded placement it is likely that you may wish to apply to Student Finance England for a loan. For 2019-20 the maximum amount of the possible loan is £9,250.

When Applying to Student Finance England it is essential that you enter the correct details. For SCITT acredited secondary courses we have set up a single generic course:

Provider: Bradford Birth to 19 SCITT

Course Name: QTS General Secondary

UCAS Course Code: Not Applicable

Course Code: 666626

Course level: Undergraduate

If you enter any details other than those above it could lead to a significant delay in receiving the funding.

Once you have applied through Student Finance, we will then need to confirm your registration on the course. This is done by you signing the unconditional offer letter, issued once you have met any conditions. We will also then need to confirm your attendance on the course, this is done at the end of your first week on placement.

We understand that student finance then take around 3 to 5 days to process the payments.

Student Loan Reimbursement Scheme

To encourage and reward Languages, Science and Computing teachers to teach in specific areas of England, which includes Bradford, the Teachers` Student Loan Reimbursement scheme will pay back the student loan repayments you`ve made in the previous year. To be eligible for reimbursement you must be employed in a secondary or special school in Bradford.

If you start teacher training or are in years 1 to 5 of your career from September 2018 or September 2019, the Teachers` Student Loan Reimbursement scheme will pay back the student loan repayments via PAYE to the Student Loans Company and teach Languages or Science in a state-funded school in a designated local authority (Bradford is included).

You claim your reimbursement in arrears at the beginning of the academic year - So the first reimbursemenys applications will be accepted in September 2019 for the year 2018/19.
