Are you the leader of a nursery or a playgroup? A leader of practice as a childminder or in an EYFS group setting? Are you looking for high-quality, evidence-informed professional development opportunities that will enhance your ability and knowledge about how young children learn? 

As part of St Edmund’s Early Years Stronger Practice Hub offers, we will be facilitating a Leadership Network.  

Our aim is to:

  • Provide discussion groups to build knowledge, reflect and review.
  • Engage with settings and practice leaders to ensure leaders recognise the opportunities the hub has to offer and encourage the value of this with their team's engagement.
  • Support setting leaders to discuss common problems and celebrate successes and share good practice.
  • To provide Professional Development Opportunities to extend knowledge and understanding.

A Walk Down My Street: The Importance of Getting Out of the Nursery

Getting children out and about provides so many opportunities to support their development, but we know what a challenge it can be. Risk assessments, ratios, permission slips, transport costs… the list goes on.

It’s not surprising that we hear these practicalities are putting many settings off leaving their base. Join Becca Oberg as she reiterates the value of these trips, no matter how short, as well as providing some suggestions to address some of these hurdles.

Becca will highlight how such walks can support children's development, including speech and language, maths. She will also touch on why this is so important for building cultural capital.

First 25 to book and attend will receive a fully funded "Nursery Trip Essesntials Kit", containing 5xhigh vis vests, first aid kit, handouts relating to risk assessments and the importance of trips.

Rebecca has worked in Early Years for over 30 years. She has held leadership roles in both the charitable and private sectors, in the UK and internationally. Her passion for early childhood alongside the value of play and informal learning for all ages has led to her sitting on a number of voluntary advisory boards.
