Working with Memory in the Classroom
At Leeds Social Sciences Institute, we support interdisciplinary research. We are pleased to share with you our ‘social science shorts’ series of videos.
In this video, Dr Amanda Waterman from the School of Psychology, talks about the impact of her research into the cognitive development of children, and applying that research in the educational settings context. Working with the Centre for Applied Education Research in Bradford, this project is exploring what teachers and educational professionals understand about working memory in children, including working memory deficits, and how it relates to learning and education. In addition, the project is comparing the effectiveness of different ways to support children in the classroom who have poor working memory. This will all feed into the creation of up-to-date guidance for schools and teachers.
