SEN Teaching Assistant 

LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE 

(Equivalent to A Levels / BTEC / OCR Nationals).
 
This is a 15-18 month training programme, with real life experience working as part of a team with children and young people aged from 2-19 years. You will be following a specialist pathway to develop your skills in working with children with special needs.

• Special schools
 
Leading to:
  • A career in schools, including progression to Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) and teaching
  • A route through to university level qualifications, including the opportunity to becoming a teacher

Entry Requirements

 

  • Energy, enthusiasm, patience and the desire to make a real difference to children’s lives
  • Experience of working with children, young people or adults with additional needs for at least 1 year. For example, you may have worked in schools, children’s social care, health, or the voluntary sector.
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills
  • A positive attitude to team work
  • A good level of Maths and English
  • Eligible residency status and the right to work in England
